A SOFT SANCTUARY TO LAND I OAKLAND

Sanura and I met at a yoga retreat and vibed immediately. When I told her what I did for work, she asked if I could help bring her new space to life. She had been house & pet sitting for a couple years and while it had been great to float around the Bay Area and explore different spaces, she was ready to land somewhere that she could call Home. While renting a room at a house in West Oakland that she shared with a few others she wanted her bedroom to feel like her own cozy nest; while offering her the structure and organization she didn’t know how to implement herself. At our first meeting we talked through what ‘home’ meant to her and the rest of this project unfolded in the most aligned timing, in budget and in Magic form! From the amazing thrift finds, some diy pieces, creatively displaying Sanura’s stunning art pieces, and a custom fold out desk (the highlight of the project), built by the talented Maya Yaropa, we created a space for Sanura to rest & relax, create & work, practice yoga & dance, entertain her friends & furry companions and a place to finally call HOME.
